Could the fall of the Mayans, the Incans, and the Roman Empire, the rise of Islam, the plague and the beginning of the dark ages all be somehow related?

I saw the most fascinating show on PBS last night.

It’s based around this book by David Keys and I have to admit it is a very interesting premise. This article by Ken Wohletz at Los Alamos National Laboratory provides some interesting insight as well.
